Subject: [rights] Patents and Standard-Setting Processes
Regarding the general issue of the role of IP claims and their role in setting standards, I recommend that interested persons read the following piece by my colleague Scott K. Peterson, which was delivered as testimony recently to the Fedral Trade Commisson/Department of Justice (FTC/DOJ) Hearings on Competition and Intellectual Property Law and Policy in the Knowledge-Based Economy (April 18, 2002). Scott is HP's legal point-man on issues of open source, IP, etc. http://www.ftc.gov/opp/intellect/020418scottkpeterson.pdf | John S.
