Dear Madam/Sir, Between October 2011 and May 2012, the ISA Programme, as part of Action 1.1, will undertake a number of initiatives related to Metadata Management. Part of this line of work is the definition of an Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS). ADMS will allow the description of semantic assets in a common way such that are more easily discoverable. Moreover, adhering to the ADMS specification will give the opportunity to participate in the European federation of semantic asset repositories through the new ISA Joinup platform. Last, ADMS could be natively used to describe semantic assets in international/national/local semantic assets repositories. This work is initiated by the European Commission and supported by the contractor of the specific Action (PwC Belgium) and experts from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). In all this, the involvement, active participation, and eventually reuse and endorsement by the ISA Member States and the broader e-Government community are critical success factors. For this reason, we would like to extend a personal invitation to you to take part in the ADMS Working Group. The ADMS Working Group has the objective to review, revise and finalise the specification of the Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS). A final draft will be made available for a one-month public comment period; comments received from the public will be taken into account in the preparation of the final specification to be submitted for endorsement. As an ADMS Working Group member, you are expected to participate in conference calls, contribute and submit comments and suggestions for the ADMS specification. All the process will be facilitated by Makx Dekkers, the Working Group editor. The tentative timeline for this Working Groups is as follows:
In order to meet our target timeline, we kindly ask you to respond to this invitation by 17 October 2011. Please indicate in your answer: a) your willingness to participate in the ADMS WG and
Please send your response to Vassilios Peristeras (Vassilios.PERISTERAS@ec.europa.eu) with copy to the ADMS Working Group Editor, Makx Dekkers (makx@makxdekkers.com). Further detailed information on the work on ADMS and on the modus operandi of the ADMS Working Group will be discussed during the First (virtual) meeting on 17 October. You can find more information on the ADMS community[1], the current ADMS specification (v0.6)[2], the ADMS case study[3], and open government metadata [4]. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any doubt or question. We are looking forward to having you on board. The ISA Secretariat
