Subject: Re: [saf] SAF Purpose statement - summary

Here is the suggestion I made in the call earlier today:

“SAF is a catalog-based, XML knowledge framework that enables both problem remediation, prevention and optimization of the operational and business characteristics of complex systems. The framework has applicability to both IT domains, e.g., cloud computing, service management, governance, and security as well as non-IT domains, e.g., energy, eGov, financial, healthcare, and communications.

My suggestion here is to emphasize the "prevention/avoidance" aspect of symptoms analysis, which is a good differentiator and won't be clear to everybody as covered in the "optimization" aspect.

[saf] SAF Purpose statement - summary

“SAF is a catalog-based, XML knowledge framework that enables both problem remediation and optimization of the operational and business characteristics of complex systems. The framework has applicability to both IT domains, e.g., cloud computing, service management, governance, and security as well as non-IT domains, e.g., energy, eGov, financial, healthcare, and communications.

With Vivian’s comment to remove XML duly noted.
