Great minutes, as always. Just for the sake of completeness, I also expressed an interest in the idea of a pub/sub model for the catalog. Rather than pub/sub, I now view this differently. 

Now, taking that a couple of steps further, imagine the SAF catalog and/or the Diagnostician as itself a Symptom emitter. We would define the Syndromes for it and template Protocols, too, so that interested parties could take actions based on those Syndromes. 

For example, this would allow notifications of interesting new Symptoms being published as "empty" Syndromes in the SAF Catalog, etc. This would also apply to publishers, as well. 

We might consider leaving room for prior art around identity standards to identify the publisher and supporting this in Symptoms (or just using the Reporter attribute to keep it simple). The end result one way or the other should be a way to emit a SAF defined Symptom when somebody emits an unknown Symptom or other interesting things happen. 

In short, we should eat our own dog food.
