Subject: RE: [saf] Next call

+1

The nice thing about PrescriptionTemplate is that the name describes a "document", where protocol and action describe a "process". This may in fact be the source of some of the confusion around protocol.

Take care:

This is not a bad idea. Initially I thought about the opposite: Prescription (what is now Protocol) and PrescriptionInstance (what is now Prescription). But perhaps the term template in there will help us in the realm of parameterized templates, etc.

Cheers,

Stavros

PrescriptionTemplate or something similar would also work for me. That way you know Prescriptions will come out of it.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

We decided to use the word action in that case just to make things easier and to avoid confusion. I see where your concerns are, and I share them. But I like the term a lot if I'm honest. "Action" points too much to rule-based systems I think. "Response" is a bit better but how do you link that to "Prescription" that supposedly comes out of it? Actually, I would prefer if we worked something around "Prescription" which is a great term but we use already. Not sure...

Cheers,

Stavros

I will be at a DMTF meeting on Monday, the 15th, and cannot attend, I'm afraid.

Regarding issue 015, anything would be better than Protocol, which is extremely confusing to IT people. When we talked about it at another SDO recently, we ended up using the word Action (more importantly, the other folks in the room used the word action). Nobody used the word Protocol but us, even when we defined it. 50 bright people in a room and not one took to the use of the word naturally! Draw your own conclusions.

So, I would prefer action. Doctors take actions. The medical analogy holds fine. If you don't like that, then take your pick. How about reaction or response. Again, anything is better than Protocol, which is too severely overloaded for IT people. I'll take any of the three suggestions that I made over Protocol.

Thanks,
Paul

Sorry, also Paul on issue 015 (Protocol Neutrality, i.e. change the term Protocol to something else) although I will be honest, this is going to be very difficult to pass. It will have to be a hell of a fantastic term, still relevant to the medical analogy, and well understood...

Cheers,

Stavros

Hi all,

next call we will continue our technical issues discussions, starting from those that have recommendations for closing or otherwise.

Just a reminder that Alvin is to provide some groundwork for issues 005 (Syndrome resolution) and 009 (Symptom grouping/linking) and Vivian for 007 (Versioning) and if possible 008 (Extensibility)

Thanks!

Stavros

PS. I am still in the dark as to when an issue tracking project will open for SAF (Mary?). I will let you know of any updates of course...
