Subject: RE: [saml-dev] Metadata in SAML1.1
Metadata in context of SAML 1.1 can be looked at as the configuration information required for carrying out dialogue between 2 parties IDP and SP. So, the data such as SOAP endpoint, Profile supported, version number of SAML protocol etc would form the Metadata for IDP. On the other hand SOAP Endpoint, Version supported, Profile supported, Assertion Consumer Service URL etc would form the metadata for the SP. Both parties should be in sync with the metadata. This however is not directly addressed as a part of SAML 1.1 but was initially tapped by Liberty Alliance which eventually has become an integral part of SAML 2.0 specifications.
