If possible can you please provide some examples of such applications and the authentication requirements. So we might consider implementing stronger/other authentication mechanisms in the future to support these use-case.

Define "such applications". Your question is simply too broad. You have to
address the audience of applications you're trying to serve.

Are there any application in the world that use SAML and require strong
authentication? Of course.
