Subject: [NEW ISSUE]: Confusing words in Section 5.3 relating to ConversationalIntent
- From: Mike Edwards <mike_edwards@uk.ibm.com>
- To: "OASIS Assembly" <sca-assembly@lists.oasis-open.org>
- Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2007 10:54:00 +0000
RAISER: Mike Edwards
TARGET: SCA Assembly specification
DESCRIPTION:
In the assembly specification, WD-01,
the paragraph between lines 860 and 864 dealing with conversational interfaces
is confusing and should be rewritten
to clarify its meaning and properly describe normative requirements.
The current text is as follows:
"This specification requires interfaces
to be marked as conversational by means of a policy intent with the name
"conversational". The
form of the marking of this intent depends on the interface type. Note
that it is also possible
for a service or a reference to set
the conversational intent when using an interface which is not marked with
the
conversational intent. This can
be useful when reusing an existing interface definition that does not contain
SCA
information."
It is left unclear
- what is required on the interface
itself (is marking mandatory?)
- where the marking is described and
what form it may take
- the relationship between specifying
the conversational intent on the service/reference and specifying it on
the
interface itself.
PROPOSAL:
Replace the paragraph between lines
860 and 864 with the following:
"There is a policy intent with
the name conversational which is used to mark an interface
as being conversational
in nature. Where a service or
a reference has a conversational interface, the conversational intent MUST
be
attached either to the interface itself,
or to the service or reference using the interface. How to attach
the
conversational intent to an interface
depends on the type of the interface. For a WSDL interface, this
is described
in section 5.4 "SCA-Specific Aspects
for WSDL Interfaces". For a Java interface, it is described
in the Java
Common Annotations and APIs specification.
Note that setting the conversational intent on the service or reference
element is useful when reusing an existing
interface definition that contains no SCA information, since it requires
no
modification of the interface artifact."
