Subject: NEW ISSUE: Clarify whether a Default Value for a Property must appear inthe componentType of an implementation
- From: Mike Edwards <mike_edwards@uk.ibm.com>
- To: "OASIS Assembly" <sca-assembly@lists.oasis-open.org>
- Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2008 10:01:18 +0000
RAISER: Mike Edwards
TARGET: SCA Assembly Specification WD02 section
4.1 Component Type
DESCRIPTION:
The assembly specification does not
make it clear whether IF an implementation has a Property and
that property has a default value, THEN
the default value appears in the componentType description
of that implementation.
PROPOSAL:
In WD02, the following text to be added
after line 312:
"The componentType property element
MAY contain a default value for the property
declared by the implementation. However, the implementation MAY have
a property
which has a default value, where the default value is NOT represented in
the componentType.
An example of such a default value is where the default
value is computed at runtime
by some code contained in the implementation.
The only way that a using component can be sure of the value of a property
used by
an implementation is for the component to set the value explicitly, which
will have the
effect of replacing any default value.
