Administrivia

a) SCA Assembly V1.1 second public review of 15 days:
ended on 4th March 2010

One public review comment received:
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/sca-assembly/201003/msg00027.html

Response message outstanding - action against TC Chairs.
Sanjay:
We didn't accept the new documents as part of the resolution
MikeE:
Correct - only for comments & discussion

...the itent is to get first version before formal approval then can raise issues

...Currently just send comment to E-mail list

New Issues

None.
(Added JeffM, AshokM & MartinC to roll)

1.1 Test Suite Open Issues

MikeE:
Recaps issue & proposal

...change composite to add entity ref into URI and add DTD file in composite directory
EricJ:
Is "_" allowed in ref?
MikeE:
All checkers seem OK with this - no errors
MikeE:
The idea is to prevent need to change composite files but allow necessary URI changes
Motion: m=DaveB s=BryanA Resolve ASSEMBY-206 with proposal in E-mail referenced in Minutes
No discussion - no objections
Resolution: Resolve ASSEMBLY-206 with proposal in E-mail referenced in Minutes w/o
MikeE:
This is the last issue against the Test Suite so we can probably go to CD
(General discussion on "new behavior" regarding checking docs by OASIS staff)

1.2 Specification Open Issues

ASSEMBLY-227: Promotion of consumers and producers undermines composability
http://www.osoa.org/jira/browse/ASSEMBLY-227

EricJ:
Can wire to a global domain channel - which is OK - but using a "target" is inconsistent with sense used with binding

...problem is that, when composed, a single composite can produce and consume on same channel and can't be decoupled

...also breaks composability model - either hides channels completely or exposes them globally
describes considerations / issues of using producers & consumers when used with channels
EricJ:
Also want to apply policy to channel not to individual producers & consumers
PeterN:
Use case where composite is producer & consumer of the same topic - seems a bit strange

...not sure about this use case or how it maps to artifacts
EricJ:
Write one compnent that listens then another that publishes...

...these then combined in a composite that assembler wants others to access

...could get problems if the original porducer/consumer sees messages from other sources
<Mike Edwards>
I take the view that composability requires that producers and consumers are treated as all independent
PeterN:
Private channel should be used for this
EricJ:
But then can't be seen by anything else as there's no promotion

...wanted to allow promotion on channels as it seems more natural
MikeE:
Source of messages is not under control of component writer - controlled by Assembler
MikeE:
What does a promoted channel look like and how would you do it in Java?
<Sanjay>
Can channel have any logic built into it? What does it mean to have a developer model for channel?
Detailed discussion of use case
PeterN:
Seems that concept of channel and component is getting confused
One minute gentlemen!
Time!
MikeE:
Please continue discussion on E-mail
