As for the merits of the proposal, Mike has previously expressed concerns that the new language will lead to less interoperability, as new interface types might no longer map to WSDL 1.1.

As near as I can tell, one of the reasons that Mike and I couldn't agree about this issue back in February is that we were arguing about different conformance targets.

Mike has previously expressed concerns that newly defined bindings using new interfaces might now be incompatible with those compatible with WSDL 1.1. I allege that this is a conformance constraint for those bindings that claim to be conformant to the implementation type documentation.

However, the constraints in the current draft of the specification are constraints on a *runtime* when confronted with *any* remote interface language, not just the ones defined for SCA.

I'm perfectly happy to agree with Mike that standardized interfaces for SCA must define a WSDL 1.1 mapping. However, I'm not comfortable with an assertion that a conforming runtime can just ignore the existing language that requires mapping to WSDL 1.1 even when mapping to a different representation might be more correct.

As I see it, the current spec language as it exists says a runtime MUST use a weak mapping with false positives and negatives, when a more direct mapping might be available.
