Subject: Re: [sca-bindings] Proposed resolution to issue BINDINGS-39

Folks,
I'm not sure that we should outlaw the
idea that the callback could use a different binding type
from that of the forward service.
However, I also would not require an
SCA runtime to support such a configuration, since it is going
to be mighty tricky to specify what
callback metadata must be transmitted with the forward call in
order to make the callback over a different
binding. Equally, I don't want us to get into the business
of trying to specify the metadata for
these cases. Even the stuff for callbacks over Web services is
proving more than tricky.
This might be a case of "optional
support" for a runtime. Thus it is mandatory to support callbacks
where the same binding type is used
in both directions, but optional to support callbacks where the
binding type is different for forward
and callback operations.
Yours, Mike.

How would binding type-specific callback mechanisms work if the binding
type used in the forward direction is different from that used in the
callback direction?
