Subject: Re: ISSUE 49: Version requirements for SDO, JAXB and JAX-WS

On the sca-j call of July 24, we had informal consensus that support
for JAXB should be mandatory but support for SDO should be optional.
The following revised proposal reflects this.

Section and line numbers are taken from WD 04 (15 August 2008).

PROPOSAL:

In section 1.2 (lines 39-40), replace reference [3] and the link by

[3] JAXB 2.1 Specification
http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=222

In section 1.2 (line 48), replace reference [7] by

[7] JAX-WS 2.1 Specification

In section 8.16, replace the paragraph at lines 1575-1578 by the following:

Complex data types exchanged via remotable service interfaces MUST be compatible
with the marshalling technology used by the service binding. For example, if
the service is going to be exposed using the standard Web Service binding, then
the parameters MAY be JAXB types or Service Data Objects (SDOs).

In section 9 (line 1707), replace the reference to JAX-WS by JAX-WS 2.1.

In section 9 (lines 1713-1714), replace the first sentence of the paragraph by
the following:

For the mapping from Java types to XML schema types, SCA permits both the
JAXB 2.1 [3] mapping and the SDO 2.1 [2] mapping. SCA runtimes MUST
support the JAXB 2.1 mapping and MAY support the SDO 2.1 mapping.
