Thanks very much for figuring out Word. From the doc you posted, I was able to run it through pdfmaker to produce the attached, with links that work!

Dave, Anish,
I think I have fixed the formatting and printing problems.  In the
process of doing this, I learned more about Word formatting and
indentation than I ever wanted to know, so I went on to put my
newly-acquired knowledge to good use by formatting all the code,
bulleted lists, and numbered lists using consistent indentation
and style.

I also fixed some problems with the Javadoc comments in section 5
and section 8.4 (should use "*" as continuation character when
the comment is longer than one line).

The Word and PDF files are attached.  These match each other in
formatting and line numbering.
