Subject: RE: [sca-policy] Re: Question about Exit Criteria raised on Assembly TC call
Jim, I was trying to help you write a valid question. Clearly we are talking at crossed purposes. I believe the exit criteria for the Policy spec to proceed to CS has been met, but the chairs – of which there are two of them – need to confirm. Note that because of designated cross references the Policy spec will have to wait until the Assembly is at the same point – this is not in the exit criteria, but is a requirement we placed in the specs to link them since the Policy spec cannot stand on its own. Martin. From: Jim Marino [mailto:jim.marino@gmail.com] Martin, I'm perplexed why my question is so difficult to answer. I'm also very disappointed in your response. As a chair of the Assembly TC and someone with a lot of OASIS experience, wouldn't it be better to help out with formulating the question in a more appropriate way, if that needs to be done? I'm trying to be as clear as possible: Have the Exit Criteria as identified in the SCA Policy TC Charter (https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/sca-policy/charter.php) been met? If not, what remains to be done? The Exit Criteria as identified in the SCA Policy TC Charter do not contain any references to the SCA Assembly or SCA Bindings TCs or the respective specifications. This implies the Exit Criteria are a discrete topic. Can someone speak authoritatively to the above question? So I am not sure what you are trying to get at! Martin From: Jim Marino [mailto:jim.marino@gmail.com]
Hi Martin, I don't know whether the Exit Criteria apply to the TC or Specifications itself but that is orthogonal to the question I asked. By "Exit Criteria", I mean what is defined in the Policy TC Charter (https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/sca-policy/charter.php): "Exit Criteria The TC shall define concrete exit criteria that include at least two independent offerings that implement and are compliant with the all normative portions of specifications and demonstrate interoperability and portability as appropriate. Note that these are minimums and that the TC is free to set more stringent criteria." So, my question is still the same: Have all of the Exit Criteria for the Policy TC been met? What are the outstanding items that have not been completed in the Policy TC Charter? From: Jim Marino [mailto:jim.marino@gmail.com] Hi Ashok, As chair of the TC, I think it is important you clarify the status of where we are at since there has been a fair amount of confusion. The question is: Have all of the Exit Criteria for the Policy TC been met? What are the outstanding items that have not been completed in the Policy TC Charter? This is independent of the status of the Assembly and Bindings TCs. Thanks, Jim On Fri, Sep 27, 2013 at 5:17 PM, Jim Marino <jim.marino@gmail.com> wrote: Sorry I'm not explaining myself very well. I'll try and re-phrase the question: Have all of the Exit Criteria for the Policy TC been met? What are the outstanding items that have not been completed in the Policy TC Charter? This is independent of Assembly and Bindings.
