Subject: [sdo] [SDO-16]: What is the java.io.Serialization wire format ofDataGraphs?
Ron Barack: The paragraph on the botton of pg 115 does not really help. First, it requires that we know the length of the XMLDocument, and write that onto the ObjectStream first. This more or less means that the XMLDocument must be held in memory as a String or StringBuffer. This is not very satisifying for large data graphs. Furthermare, don't we still need an ExternalizableDelegator there, or are we simply supposed to push the XML onto the ObjectStream? Steve Brodsky: Please clarify, this only seems to apply to calling java.io.Serialization on DataGraph. Clarified during the April 6 conf call that this issue refers only to java.io.Serialization of the DataGraph. Radu Preotiuc: I wanted to cross-reference this to SDO-79, we need to clarify what the role of DataGraph is, and then come up with details on its serialization format. Steve Brodsky: Propose deferring to 3.0 unless there is a proposal to create the equivalent of an ExternalizableDelegator for DataGraph.
