SDO currently supports global properties for both simple and complex content.  If an XML document is loaded that corresponds to a simple global property then the APIs on XMLDocument do not support the retrieval of the simple data.

 

Possible Resolutions:

1. Create DataObject wrappers for all of the primitive types.  This idea has been raised in other issues.
2. Add API to XMLDocument in addition to getRootObject (which returns DataObject) to retrieve primitive types (i.e. getSimpleObject:  Object, or getRootString/getRootInteger, etc).
