Subject: Re: [sdo] Groups - OASIS SDO TC Weekly Teleconference modified

Hello Ron & Group,

The Oracle focus over the past couple of weeks has been the XML fidelity issues, and we would prefer to discuss them this week.  Later today we will be sending out a proposal that addresses these issues through SDO path enhancements.  As a result. we would prefer to delay a vote on SDO-119.

Regarding projection (from the EclipseLink perspective), below are some issues/items we are considering:
  • What is the impact of relaxing the SDO name uniqueness requirement on projection?
  • What is the impact of SDO-82 on projection?
  • Is SDO-119 useful without an identity concept?  Currently my thinking is that identity management is required here.
  • Alignment with SDO-135.  I believe the spirit of SDO-119 & projection in general is to enable alignment with other standards.  I believe these issues should be worked on in parallel,  for example the Binder proposal could be enhanced to unify SDO-135 and projection.

II - ISSUE 119: Projection and Keys
Latest Mails: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/sdo/email/archives/200808/msg00033.html

I believe we are as close to consensus here as we are going to be. Perhaps it's time for a vote?

III ISSUE 133: Refactoring the chapter "Generating Java from XMLSchemas"
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/sdo/email/archives/200808/msg00054.html

The main questions seems to be: what to we say about about name mangling as an approach to dealing
with schema with duplicate local names?

IV - XML Fidelity Issues

http://www.osoa.org/jira/browse/SDO-82
http://www.osoa.org/jira/browse/SDO-83

There's been no activity in the last week. Maybe we should get a status update.

V - ISSUE 5: Defining SDO Types from Java Classes

Some mail exchange on this topic
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/sdo/email/archives/200807/msg00056.html

VI - ISSUE 134: Integration with standard representations
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/sdo/email/archives/200808/msg00001.html

I would like to hear what others think of the discussion of whether or not to allow DataObjects to "wrap" POJOs.
