Subject: RE: [sdo] Groups - OASIS SDO TC Weekly Teleconference modified

Hi François,

Your write-up doesn't fit with my understanding of the resolution of
SDO-124. I don't believe we agreed to require a special algorithm for
generating XSD. I think that all we agreed to was to introduce the
orphanHolder property/annotation as the way to mark an element property as
special, i.e., one that is used to hold objects that are not reachable
from any containment reference starting from the root (i.e., data graph
orphans). When we serialize XML, such an element, if one exists, would be
used to serialize orphans, rather than throwing a "graph not closed"
exception.

So, I think that all we really want to add to the spec is the description
of this orphanHolder property, and explain how XMLHelper.save() and load()
will use it. The algorithm in the case of multiple orphanHolder elements
is implementation dependent (i.e., an implementation might pick the best
match for each orphan or it can just use the first one).

I think that we also want to add an orphanHolder element
(type="xsd:anyType") to DataGraphType (in datagraph.xsd), so that users
that don't want to define their own orphanHolder can simply add their root
object to a DataGraph, and then not need to worry about getting exceptions
if the graph is not closed.

If you don't mind, I can take a pass at updating the spec for this issue.

If anybody thinks I've missed something here, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks,
Frank

     - new annotations need to be added to section 7.3 (how many are
