Subject: RE: [search-ws] We Need A Name!

I was thinking that I could live with SWS, but I’m probably going to pronounce it swiss.  I think we might get some bonus credibility for producing a Swiss protocol. :-)

Ok, let's go with SWS as Farrukh suggests, but please not pronounce it "swiss", just call it "S" "W" "S".  And this is just a working name.

Well, Floyd Landis comes to mind for me.

SR is too close to SRU and I think we need to be making a visible break with that legacy.

For the steroid connection, pick a name off the Mitchell Report.

Clemens.

Tejada.

LoDuca.

Petitte.

These are all good names for a standard. And there are about 80 of them to choose from.

Seriously though -- I think for now we should pick a *working name*.  How about SR? That's what I've been calling it.

We need a name!  When I say, “I want every server to be a <enterANameHere> server!”, I need something to go into that placeholder.

I was struck by Farrukh’s characterization of what we’re building as “OpenSearch on steroids”, so I suggest we call it “Royds”.  A Google search on that term makes it look pretty safe for our puposes.  (I briefly considered “Roids”, but that’s slang for hemorrhoids where I come from.  There’re too many obvious jokes there.)

I’m happy with that being a working name to be replaced later, but I need some name soon.
