Subject: Groups - Teleconference modified
Teleconference has been modified by Ray Denenberg Date: Thursday, 13 December 2007 Time: 02:00pm - 03:00pm ET Event Description: Toll-free number: 888-448-7101 International Dial-In: See http://www.intercall.com/sprintservices/SPCIntlAccessNumber.pdf Participant code:7646073 Host: Ralph Agenda: 1. Roll Call 2. Draft documents - Core Spec - SRI 1.2 Profile 3. Other possible documents: - transports bindings - CQL binding - ATOM - PQ - other 4. OpenSearch effort. 5. Meeting schedule. 6. Other business Minutes: Present: Voting Members: Ralph, Ray, Ashley, Farrukh, Larry. 5/7 quorum. Invited Guest (soon to be member): Rob Parameters defined in the core spec. will not be assigned concrete names. The parameter names to be used are to be discoverable or profilable. However they will be assigned an abstract name. So there will be a column for a human-friendly name, and another column for an abstract name. There will be a recommendation (i.e. via SHOULD) that the abstract name should be used if there is no reason not to. For the response type parameter, the core spec will recommend that IANA Media types be used. So for example instead of atom1.0 as in the draft, use application/atom+xml. For sru1.2, we will need to establish an IANA type. Discussion of record packing. There needs to be elaboration in the core spec. It probably needs to be more abstract or generalized. For example the possibility that html will be returned has to be accommodated, for example for opensearch. Extra data parameters. These will be eliminated in the core spec. Profiles may add parameters not defined in the core spec. Result set model. Debate over whether this belongs in the core spec, or left out of the core spec and included in profiles. An application being profiled might not use result sets. However the result set model is optional so that isnt a reason to leave it out of the core spec. However, if different applications have different result set models then that would be a reason to leave it out of the core spec, unless we can describe an abstract result set model general enough to accommodate all possible concrete model. This remains unresolved. Abstract data types. Data types were removed from the core spec and the question is whether to include an abstract data type (e.g. integer as opposed to a concrete type, xsd:integer). The consensus was no, because a profile might prescribe values outside of any given abstract data type, for example last for a parameter like nextRecordPosition which ordinarily would be an integer. We need to articulate what this standard provides that opensearch does not. There was a brief list of these features in the report from one of the SRU meetings. We will dig this up and use it as a starting point. Ray will redraft the two documents, using appropriate OASIS naming conventions. Annotations will be removed. Rob and Ralph will begin work on a high level abstract model. Farrukh will begin work on an ATOM binding and an opensearch binding. Meetings will now be every two weeks, Thursday at 9am US ET, beginning December 20.
