Subject: Re: [search-ws] cql bnf

Well we can't allow a revised bnf to have substantive changes, it has to say
the same thing as the old bnf, for version 1.2 (we can consider substantive
changes for 2.0)

But I think it is important that the bnf begin something like:

  cql-query = query [sort-spec]

         rather than:

sortedQuery ::= prefixAssignment sortedQuery | scopedClause ['sortby'
sortSpec]

It is intuitively much clearer (to me) when the bnf begins with the actual
thing that you''re trying to define.
