7. Next meeting.

Minutes:
1. Role Call
Present: Ralph, Ashley, Larry, Ray
Regrets: Kerry, Jan
Absent: Rob, Matthew
(Guest: Farukh)

4 present of 8 members. No quorum.

Minutes are unofficial. All "agreements" below are provisional, pending agreement either at next official meeting or agreement via email.

2. Resolution of the CDs that we just published. (Agenda rearranged; this was listed as item 4.)

How do we move these documents along to their next phase: Committee Draft for Public Review?

There has been no substantive comment from the SRU implementors. It is understandable for SRU/CQL 1.2 (along with the http binding) because these are straighforward renderings of the current specs. However there should be review of the APD, because it will serve as the foundation for development of the 2.0 specs. Also it would be good to get feedback on the OpenSearch document. Even though it too is a straightforward rendering of the existing OpenSearch spec, it would be good to get feedback on this document, its relationship to the APD, and on the whole process in general.

Ray will post an email, summarizing all of this.

We hope to be able to take these documents to the next step: Committee Draft for Public Review (the current documents are just Committee Drafts - the difference is that "for Public Review" requires a conformance section) by November. There would be a two month review lasting until January, and so these could be balloted early Spring.

3. How to jumpstart the new phase of work: SRU/CQL 2.0 and the description language.

Rob is charged with getting the 2.0 discussion started on the SRU list. He isn't on the call; I'll talk to him sometime this week. Ashley, Ralph, Larry, and Rob will get the discussion about the description language started on the SRU list. Ashley will post a message.

4. Bringing this second phase to closure.

We would like to tentatively plan to have a CD for Public Review for these phase 2 documents in six month.

5. Relationship to OGC work.

The OGC meeting is in four weeks. It is referred to as an "OGC Summit". Originally it was billed as "OGC Search Summit", that is, the focus would be on searching. Now it appears that the scope may be a bit broader. The OGC people reached out to our committee, asking that someone attend this meeting. Ray tried to recruit someone (besides himself) to go, but there were no volunteers. So Ray will attend. However all members are charged with reviewing the reading material to help Ray prepare for the meeting.

This meeting presents a valuable opportunity for our committee. It could avoid development of two incompatible standards, and it may result in geospatial requirements for the 2.0 specifications.

6. Next Meeting(s)

We would like to schedule an extra call sometime next week (week of August 25) Wednesday, August 27; Thursday, August 28; or Tuesday, August 26 (in order or preference) at the regular time, 0930.

We would not in any case hold the regularly scheduled meeting next Monday, August 25 (too many members are not available, and it is a bank holiday in Europe).

Following that, we will plan to hold the regularly scheduled call on Monday, September 8.
