Subject: Restriction on index names which may be used in the facetLimitparameter
From the discussion on index names and the facetLimit parameter, I have drafted the following, to go in 7.1.1 of SRU. _____________________________________________________________ Restriction on index names which may be used in the facetLimit parameter: Index names which contain either or both of the characters comma (,) or colon (:) should not be used within the facetLimit expression. These two characters have been introduced as delimiters within the syntax but both are legal characters in index names. Thus theoretically there could be a index with the name ‘dc.subject,200:dc.title’. In that case, the parameter assignment facetLimit=100:dc.subject,200:dc.title Would be ambiguous. It is recommended that the special characters, and in particular the comma and colon, not be used when creating index names. _____________________________________________________________ I'm also thinking that a recommendation consisting of something along the lines of the last line could go in the CQL spec. --Ray |
