Subject: RE: [search-ws] A change in requirements - was: "Re: searchRetrieve interoperability demonstration"

Hi Chet -

Having consulted with Matthew and Ralph, we feel that an interoperability demo would be a good thing, to show off the value of searchRetrieve, at some point in the future.

But we'd prefer to  put it off for now if it is not required for the ISO work.  We would rather focus on the ISO submission.  Let's revisit the demo idea later.  For now, let's work on getting the ISO  submission package prepared.

Thanks.

Ray

Folks,

Just want to give you a heads up. While this change has not yet been formally announced to the OASIS membership, it applies directly to your situation so we want to let you know.

At the face-to-face meeting of the OASIS Board of Directors at OASIS headquarters the last week of July, the Board approved a proposed update to the Liaison Policy that eliminates the requirement to hold an Interoperability Demonstration before an OASIS Standard can be submitted to another standards development organization.

Given their approval, we can, if you wish, skip doing a demo and instead move on to preparing the submission package for the ISO.

Jamie can walk us through the requirements there; it is not onerous.

If you want to use the demo as an opportunity to show off the value of searchRetrieve, we'll be happy to work with you on setting it up. However, if you'd prefer to just move forward with the submission, then let's get started on that!

Best regards,

From those dates the better ones for me are the 20 or 27. The 16 is possible but not great. The 17 may be possible but I can’t confirm at the moment.

Let's try to settle on a date/time for the searchRetrieve interoperability webinar demonstration.

Carol, I'm guessing that we would allocate an hour for this? Does that sound right (I haven't done this before).  Is there a particular time of day that OASIS prefers? If not, then let's say 10AM.

I think all the participants are on the US East coast except Matthew (and I am not sure of the time zones of the OASIS staff) , and 10AM has always been the best time for him.

   The participants would be:

-          representatives from participating members

o   LC (me)

o   OCLC (Ralph)

o   MIT (contact: Christine Moulen)

o   Hopkins (contact: David Kennedy)

-          Matthew

-          OASIS Staff

Anyone else?

Could we settle on a date sometime during the last two weeks in September:    16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, or 27.

Can everyone state their availability during this period, and then we can settle on a date.  I will be away all next week but will compile responses when I get back August 18.

I have attached a brief outline of what we propose to demonstrate.

Thanks.

Ray
