Subject: [security-jc] FW: Request for discussion of possible collaborationopportunity between OASIS and the Open Group

Hi,
Would anyone be willing and able to speak briefly about OASIS Security
activity at the Open Group
http://www.opengroup.org/public/member/q103/index.htm on Wednesday 5
February in the afternoon? You would coordinate with Gavenraj Sodhi (see
letter below). I realize that this is last minute and unfortunately, I
need an answer ASAP in order to get in the program.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
Regards,
Dee

Dee or Karl,
Can either of you be on this call? If we have someone in the bay area
that
can speak at their conference on related OASIS Security TCs; that would
be
great.

Patrick

between OASIS and the Open Group

Karl and Patrick,

As a fellow member of the Provisioning Services Technical Committee
within
OASIS and a member of the Identity Management Steering Committee within
the
Open Group, I have recognized many synergies between the two groups.
The
Open Group will be hosting their next event in Burlingame, California
from
February 3rd - 7th, http://www.opengroup.org/public/member/q103/.
February
5th will consist of a comprehensive Identity Management agenda for the
whole
day, starting with Howard Schmidt, Vice-Chair of President Bush's
Critical
Infrastructure Protection Board. Members of the Open Group, including
IBM,
VeriSign, Novell, Computer Associates, and Business Layers will be
talking
on strategies that they see for customers to implement identity
management
within their organizations, now and in the near future.

The viewpoint I have is that OASIS and Open Group complement each other
with
the initiatives going on with Identity Management issues at this time
from
the arena of customer issues/challenges/product directions to OASIS's
direction of Identity Management standards (e.g., SAML, SPML, XACML,
WS-S)
for vendor and customer participation. It would really nice to have
OASIS
talk about current initiatives happening within OASIS around Identity
Management.

This event will give a snapshot for customers of the state of Identity
Management implementation at this time including the discussion of how
standards will play a role from customer-driven requirements and product
development.

We have a call this afternoon, which we would like you to join if
possible:

Wednesday 22 January 2003, at 10:00/13:00/18:00 PST/EST/GMT. The
number to call from within North America is 888 742 8686. The number to
call from elsewhere is +1 303 928-2600. The conference id. is 8306036.

Warmest regards and we look forward to hearing from you,

Gavenraj Sodhi
