Subject: Re: [security-jc] [Fwd: Proposed ICTSB Security Group,pre-meeting, 10 March]
Chairs:
Does anyone have any comments in regards to this query I sent out ten days ago? OASIS needs to get any comments back to the ICTSB right away.

The ICTSB has invited OASIS to provide comments on their plans for work in the area of security. OASIS will likely have a representative at the meeting, but we need your comments. Does this work appear to have any relationship to work already underway in one of the OASIS TCs? Is there anything that OASIS could contribute here, or any liaisons that we should establish?
Comments in the next week or so would be appreciated.

Subject: Proposed ICTSB Security Group, pre-meeting, 10 March
Dear Colleagues
In relation to the Communication on "Network and Information Security:proposal for a European Policy Approach" [COM(2001)298 final], and theCouncil Resolution of 28 January 2002 "On a common approach and specific
actions in the area of network and information security", CEN and ETSI
collaborated on the production of a report that addresses
standardization activities and standardization requirements with
respect to Network and Information Security.
This report has been approved both in CEN and in ETSI. The next step is
now to ensure that the standardization requirements get implemented.
To that effect, the ICTSB Chair and the Chair of the former NIS Group
have been considering the creation of a Security Group under the ICT
Standards Board, to operate at a strategic level to overview standards
requirements, in particular concerning the implementation of the
recommendations from the Network and Information Security Report. The
Group should develop interfaces with the new European Network and
Information Security Agency, and with equivalent bodies elsewhere such
as ANSI/HSSP.
In order to finalize the proposed Terms of Reference, to enable these to
be approved by the ICTSB meeting on 17 March, on behalf of the Chair we
would like to invite you to a preparatory meeting on Wednesday 10 March,
starting at 10H, in the CEN/CENELEC Meeting Centre, Meeting Room
Schuman, Rue de Stassart 35, B-1050 Brussels.
ICTSB members may wish to relay the invitation to specialist delegates.
The draft agenda and first draft of the Terms of Reference are attached.
Please register your attendance for the meeting with
