Subject: Details for 8-10 September 2003 F2F meeting
The F2F meeting will be held at: Sun Microsystems Hawthorne conference room 1 Network Drive Burlington, MA 01803 USA Dates/times (all Eastern, obviously): Monday, September 8, 10am-5pm Tuesday, September 9, 9am-5pm Wednesday, September 10, 9am-noon (telecon arrangements and times to be announced separately) We may be doing some group activity on Monday or Tuesday night, as well. Following are some of the hotels that are close to the campus; a car or hotel shuttle is recommended, rather than walking: Renaissance Hotel in Bedford http://www.marriott.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=BOSSB Candlewood Suites in Burlington http://www.candlewoodsuites.com Boston Marriott Burlington (usually the most popular option) http://www.marriott.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=BOSBU Usually people fly into Logan, but if you really hate Boston traffic and/or aren't curious in the slightest about what the Big Dig and the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge look like at this point, you could fly into the Manchester, NH airport and then drive an hour south. If you're staying at the Burlington Marriott and you're driving from Logan Airport (or need to give a cabbie some guidance), take 93 North to 128 South (also known as 95 South), take exit 33B ("Route 3A North"), and go straight through the light at the end of the ramp. The Marriott will appear immediately on your left. The ride should take about ~30 minutes if there's no traffic, and a cab will cost ~$60. There are shuttle options too. To get from the Marriott to the Sun facility, exit the parking lot and turn left on Mall Road. Take it to "the end" (it turns into a different and smaller street once you're past Burlington Mall) and turn right on Middlesex Turnpike; a Tower Records will be on your near right at this intersection. *Continue for a mile or so, going through a traffic light with a bank on the corner. Soon after, the road will bend left and turn into Network Drive. You'll see the Sun facility on your left; try to park in Visitors' Parking. (If Visitor Parking overflows, exit Visitor Parking, turn left, and turn left again to park near Building 1, then take the sidewalk up the short hill towards the central lobby.) I will be on duty for the half-hour before our meeting starts each day, getting people signed in and shuttling them to our meeting room. If you get lost or need me at some other time, feel free to use my cell phone (781/354-9441). If you happen to be going straight from Logan to Sun, take 93 North to 128 South (95 South) to exit 32B, Middlesex Turnpike. (Watch out for merging cars on this exit road, which has two exits on it; you want the earlier exit.) Turn right off the exit ramp onto the Turnpike; see the * just above for the rest of the directions. You should allot 30-60 minutes to get from Burlington to Logan on the day you leave, depending on the time of day. Telephones will be available, but the conference room does not have network connections for computer access to other than Sun folks, nor will analog dial-up lines be available (I believe). We will have a computer projector at our disposal. If you need photocopies made for the meeting, please make every effort to arrange this with me beforehand; however, photocopying can also be done during the meeting. We'll be heading to the Sun cafeteria for lunch (sorry, no catering subsidies), so our lunch timing will be up to us. Let me know if there's any information I missed here.
