Announcement: Upcoming SAML 2.0 IOP event, July 14-Sept. 4

The Liberty Alliance SAML 2.0 interoperability test event will be held this year from July 14 through September 4^th. Registration is already open with several products already registered. Test is open to non-Liberty members, and the test plan (vs. 3.2) can be found at http://www.projectliberty.org/liberty/liberty_interoperable/documents.

This week Microsoft notified Liberty of their intention to enter this year’s Liberty Alliance SAML IOP event for certification in SP Lite, IdP Lite and eGov profiles. As Microsoft has discussed publicly in news articles and blogs, they intended for their identity management product, codenamed “Geneva”, to be widely interoperable and, as such, are entering the Liberty SAML IOP test event.

To this end, Microsoft took the initiative and asked Liberty to publicize their test entry and their desire to test with as many vendors as possible to encourage other prospective vendors to join this year’s test event. New participants like Microsoft reflect the growth and acceptance of SAML as leading method of identity federation.

If you are planning to sign up for the test event or already have and you wish to publicize this decision, let us know and we will be glad to share this information with other registered participants and possible participants who have expressed interest.
