Issu # I052 Realted issue: I048 Original Message: ----------------- From: William Cox wtcox@CoxSoftwareArchitects.com Date: Sat, 20 Jun 2009 23:05:58 -0400 To: soa-eerp@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [soa-eerp] NEW Issue: Use of Business Rating Not Clear PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL OR START A DISCUSSION THREAD UNTIL THE ISSUE IS ASSIGNED A NUMBER. The issues coordinators will notify the list when that has occurred. Protocol: rating Artifact: spec Type: design Title: Use of Business Rating Not Clear Description: BusinessRating-v1.0-spec-wd05.pdf The use of BusinessRating is not clear from the specifications. The use case document (proposed in the Related Issue) would help a great deal. The bidirectional nature, communicating both a claimed set of credentials+ratings and (apparently) a validated set of credentials+ratings is confusing in that it uses the same instance to communicate two different things. The two way usage is also confusing in that it follows the "peek/poke" model of setting parts of a data structure and returning it; if this is indeed what's being done in the intended use, it should be changed to something more appropriate for the SOA/web services environment. Related issues: Use Case Document and additional justification Proposed Resolution: Refactor to avoid the confusing two way use. Add rationale in a non-normative appendix to explain and justify the choice made. bill cox -- *William Cox* Email: wtcox@CoxSoftwareArchitects.com <mailto:wtcox@CoxSoftwareArchitects.com> Web: http://www.CoxSoftwareArchitects.com +1 862 485 3696 mobile +1 908 277 3460 fax -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com – What can On Demand Business Solutions do for you? http://link.mail2web.com/Business/SharePoint
