Subject: Re: [soa-rm-ra] UML model for Governance
Hi Don, In the activity diagrams: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/soa-rm-ra/download.php/25092/Activity-governance-constraints.png http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/soa-rm-ra/download.php/25093/Activity-governance-responsibility.png If corporate management is distinguished from IT management, would that then lead down the path of specifying program management, contracts management, etc.? The following governance diagram depicts management in an abstract sense: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/soa-rm-ra/download.php/23764/Governance%20Model.png I believe your diagrams could be used to describe a specific example of the Governance Model. To All, The first paragraph of the governance section sites the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development definition for Governance. "The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in the "OECD Principles of Corporate Governace"[1] defined Corporate Governance as providing the structure for determining organizational objectives and monitoring performance to ensure that objectives are attained. The OECD was careful to note that there is no one single model for good corporate governance and as such, different organizations may have different perspectives on what constitutes good governance." To me, this statement pertains to enterprise governance but does not address ecosystem governance. For example, many organizations instituting SOAs will be under governmental regulations to log certain types of information. Since the governance model has been moved to the beginning of the Governance section, I suggest we strike the OECD reference and make a statement that is inline with the Governance model.
