Subject: MSC SOA Reference Architecture
I won’t be around to listen to this but it is
something to consider in context to our work. Ken Abstract: This CCISC Council
presentation will outline the technical content of the MSC SOA RA, describe its
current status, discuss the span of DoD programs that will be affected by it,
what impacts are likely to be felt, and when. MSC is a very positive example of effective stakeholder alignment
across a broad range of the government. The reference architecture is
slated to become “the” standard for SOA in the DoD . MSC & the MSC SOA RA Overview: The Multi-Service SOA Consortium (MSC) is represented by a group
of principals that represent important programs of record. Most of the
different services represented in the MSC (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and
DISA) have SOA reference implementations (RIs) of their own. The Navy’s
was the ONR SOA RI. MSC SOA RA Purpose: This architecture description is intended to guide the development
of a class of solution architectures and their associated implementations that
provide functionality equivalent to that of the different SOA RIs. The MSC SOA RA serves as a standard architecture specification to
which any number of implementations in addition to the SOA RIs might
comply. Any compliant implementation will support the deployment of
service-based applications intended to execute on top of a SOA RI. This
makes it possible for multiple vendors/developers to provide competing
underlying technology that adheres to the standard while encouraging
continually improving value and performance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Kenneth Laskey MITRE Corporation, M/S
