Subject: Re: [soa-rm-ra] MUST DO for next week's SOA-RAF call

Just wanted to send out a quick note that I have checked the minutes of yesterday's meetings against the minutes of Oct. 3rd with thanks to Kevin for providing that document. I didn't find any items that needed to be corrected and while I was working on this I composed and sent off a message to Bill Cox of the SOA End-to-End Response Planning TC, looking to find and/or stimulate work based on the SOA-RAF that can be cited in Statement of Use that are required for seeking OASIS-Wide Standard Approval.

I have also started the ongoing work of the actions I undertook during the Oct. 3rd meeting. So please read those minutes, too since the minutes today did not include reviewing such actions and they will need to be included in our next review of actions next Tuesday.

In that vein, I have made initial contact with many potential collaborators locally during my participation Tuesday in a (SF) Bay Area Center for Regional Disaster Resilience Forum on Military Support for Civil Authorities.  Thiss event saw a diverse set of participants including
  • Chevron (which has two major refineries locally and with whom plans can be made for quickly mitigating temporary fuel shortfalls in the early hours of a large scale emergency incident)
  • Verizon (which has capabilities for restoring or replacing Cell Tower and Satellite capabilities when coordinated with transportation and fire fighting authorities),
  • San Jose Water (whose resources when combined with other water utilities can quickly restore the availability of potable water for displaced populations as well as downstream waste and saline water for firefighting), and,
  • California National Guard Command Representatives who shared their information sharing and procedural capabilities and refined some existing pre-incident planning practices.

This represents one kind of SOA Ecosystem with which we need to work to coordinate resources and services.

Cheers,
Rex

First, some thank you's.

Thank you to Danny for an excruciatingly thorough review and comments.

Thank you to Rex for a very complete set of minutes that were posted within an hour of the meeting being adjourned.

Now for the group homework.  Attached for immediate access are this week's minutes.  Please read, consider the issues, and be prepared to adjudicate and close next week.  In addition, please send thoughts and suggestions to this list that bring up points to consider and, especially, suggests explicit changes to the text.

If you have any problems finding or accessing any of the referenced documents, please contact me and I'll make sure they are available.

I will separately forward this to Danny and Jeff, but I am currently hostage to a limited Web email while my new computer is importing old archives into Outlook.

Ken
