Subject: Terminology and Glossary
All: The objective of the Glossary in the draft RM document is to tie down, where we can, common understanding of different terms being used in the TC. In order to meet the deadline for our first draft I had to draw a line under some terms and add a definition that might not yet have achieved consensus (framework, business, even reference model are a few examples) Before there are any further exchanges on definitions, you should take a look at the draft glossary to see what I have captured and see whether it actually answers your concerns. Further, in cross-checking with other OASIS specs, I particularly noticed the Glossary that forms part of the SAML2 Specifications [1]. I think that many of the definitions there regarding security, authentication and identity are probably valid for our problem space too. To this end, I have tried to identify and extract those terms and definitions relevant to our discussions, and will load this extract to KAVI for information. I will then prune and clean up the definitions to make them non-context specific, and if there is consensus on all or any of these terms, I would propose to incorporate them into our Glossary, together with the cross-references to SAML and other sources. Looking at the SAML editors list, I can only spot Rebekah's name as one that I recognise and who was also involved in the SAML work. Maybe Rebekah in particular might like to comment on this glossary and its relevance? Regards, Peter [1] http://docs.oasis-open.org/security/saml/v2.0/saml-2.0-os.zip; Glossary is not URI accessible directly, but is file named saml-glossary-2.0-os.pdf in zip folder.
