Subject: RE: [soa-rm] SOA-RM Wikipedia Entry

A watch is a good idea. You can also add an RSS feed to your feed
reader. Wikipedia provides an RSS feed for every wiki history page (and
an atom feed if you prefer that). For the SOA RM page the feed is at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=OASIS_SOA_Reference_Model&acti
on=history&feed=rss

You do not have any advantage. Anyone can edit the page, and see its
logs.

I suggest putting a "watch" on the page, and regularly logging into your
wikipedia page to see what has changed in your watch list. I think the
deletion did not happen with proper process.

Excellent - thanks Matt. BTW, how can we ensure that someone is notified
in the future if a deletion takes place? (I was not notified, because I
believe I don't have notification turned on). I would also be happy to
transfer any "contributor" privileges to someone else if there is
something that I am not able to see or do that others can. Bottom line,
I should not have any advantage over anyone else regarding metadata
related to our Wiki page (e.g. events such as deletion, and why they
occurred). Based on the fact that you were able to uncover the details
below, I assume that I don't - correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is the entry from the deletion log (as the contributor, I believe I
am the only person who can read this log):

18:44, 11 December 2006 Warofdreams (Talk | contribs) deleted "OASIS SOA
Reference Model" (uncontested prod on 4 December)

I am not sure what "uncontested prod" means, but someone within OASIS
(perhaps Carol?) would need to look into it by contacting that user and
finding out the details.

Folks -

It was brought to my attention that the wikipedia entry for the SOA-RM
was deleted. Anyone have an idea as to why?

Thanks,
Rebekah

I have updated our Wikipedia entry to reflect our OASIS Standard status
- see end of first paragraph at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OASIS_SOA_Reference_Model

Jeff, you had asked earlier about search and metatags - I verified with
Wikipedia that there is no way to insert the metatags into the entry.
They said that one should make sure that they write good content so that
it can be indexed properly by search engines. And our content is good.

Lastly: Any further suggestions for updates to the page? I have a few
more of Duane's earlier suggestions to do - they are all editing and
wordsmithing (very minor updates).

Hi Jeff,

Great - Haven't gotten to the metatags yet, but plan to before the end
of this week (along with a summary of the comments on the entry from the
TC). Thanks for mentioning that.

Regarding the URL: Please help me understand how to change this. This is
the URL that Wikipedia automatically assigned.

Joe,

I'd like to add the link to the Wikipedia entry to the Business
Integration Journal article I'm wrapping up, but I noticed the following
is the only valid URL:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OASIS_SOA_Reference_Model_%28SOA-RM%29

... with the extraneous %28 & %29. Also, the search from the Wikipedia
home page does not find keywords related to this entry.

Can you give me an update, especially on the link?

Thanks!

 - Jeff
