Subject: RE: [soa-rm] Microsoft SOA Reference Model

The blog doesn't have a lot of content, but I really like
his applying the term "fractal" instead of "layered". In teaching
folks about SOA, the words we use already have a previous context in people's
minds. Because of this, using terms like "layers" and "tiers" sometimes
get in the way. Using the term "fractal" may help paint the picture more
accurately.
I'm going to have to think about this some more, but just
wanted to think out loud for a minute.
By the way, Ken Laskey and I, along with another
co-worker named Rob Mikula, have been teaching a class on SOA for the MITRE
Institute for a while now that is based on the RM. Just wanted to let you
all know that the RM is really proving itself to be an excellent peice of work,
and captures the essence of SOA better than anything else I've seen. The
feedback on the course is overwhelmingly positive, and that is in large part
based on the quality of the RM.
Passing along this SOA reference
model news:
"Microsoft
SOA Reference Model, Initial Draft of the Introductory Chapter"
The
author, John Evdemon, is the co-chair of the BPEL TC.
