Subject: RM-TC--RA-SC---New SC
Hi Everyone, I've been thinking about the structure the SOA RM, SOA RA SC and a possible new SC, yet to be named. I've changed my mind about recombining the RM and RAF efforts. This is at least partially due to some conversations with Dave Ellis, and previous conversations with Ken Laskey, as well as my own efforts in the Net-Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC). The RAF work still needs to be conducted at nearly the same rate (e.g. weekly meetings), though there may be some weeks in the near future when we can all spend a little more time on other things. However, once we get into addressing comments, refactoring conformance clauses into the Architectural Implications sections, and refining the Management part of the Management and Governance Section, we will need to go back to weekly sessions. However, in the meantime, I would like to start work on a more concrete reference architecture, nearly a solution architecture short of specifying a platform, operating system and specific middleware, based on the single model of the Reference Architecture Foundation I've been building, with appropriate updating, of course. I propose this as a Subcommittee effort similar to the RAF, and I would like the domain-specific part of it to be the emergency management domain which Dave and I are engaged in through the EM TC. The new SC could/might build a Net-Enabled Emergency Response Architecture, at least partially harmonized with DODAF 2.0. I would also propose that the SOA RM TC meet monthly at least and keep the two SCs updated. The RM itself might benefit from an update, too, at some point.
