Subject: Re: [soa-rm] conflict with today's meeting

I have no burning issue that needs to be aired this week rather than the next meeting on the 27th.

Just  "prime the pump" comments on the fine-coarse-grained paper:

Using the same terms (fine- or coarse- grained) for both service and interface seems a stretch. The term seems better suited as a description of the service than the interface.

In discussing the interface, the paper seems to contain arguments that a coarse interface is both more flexible ("get(arg)") and less flexible (not permitting access to "expert" functions or specific subfunctions.) Maybe these are both valid, but different and separable, characteristics, which may or may not be best described using the fine/coarse grained trope.

Ken,

I am prepared to discuss some updates to the SOA Ontology. I have some thoughts on how reference model “interaction” is implemented to support the non-software aspects of SOA. With discussion, this topic should take no longer than 30 min. , which makes for a very short meeting. I am happy to discuss today or as part of a larger agenda on 5/27.

Thanks

William

I had a late conflict arise with today’s meeting.  Please let me know if you have a topic you are prepared to discuss and want to lead the meeting.  If so, I can set up a conference number.  Otherwise, I suggest canceling today’s meeting and the next meeting will be May 27.

Ken

P.S. Still interested in comments on the service granularity paper distributed around the time of the last meeting April 29.
