Subject: interface template [was: [soa-rm] Groups - Draft - Minutes-SOA-RM TC Mtg, 20 January 2016.doc uploaded]
Martin, Reading through the minutes, I was intrigued by the line “Could granularity relate also to how many
different services are needed:can I have single general-purpose format with a
Zip-code parameter vs. different endpoints for each variation, e.g. each Zip
code.” How would we compare [1] http://find-location.com/{zipcode} with [2] http://find-location.com?zipcode={zipcode} where {zipcode} is a consumer provided value? Each of these is an easily documented pattern that supports extensibility through a common interface pattern. [1] identifies separate endpoints but it doesn’t seem as “wrong” as [3] http://find-location-{zipcode} which somehow doesn’t strike me as what we’d want in an interface. Thoughts?
