Subject: TOG Microservice architecture
Sending to the group list. https://collaboration.opengroup.org/msa/index.php (TOG Micro Service Architecture group) shows no papers for review, and a planned white paper
A white paper detailing the definition, and The Open Group’s position on MSA.As a non-member, I'm not logged in. There was a webinar by members of that group on 19 January 2016 (see http://www.opengroup.org/subjectareas/soa/digital-age/microservices ) with links to the slides and a discussion forum. I repeat that this is a distinction with little value -- I see this as a parallel to the microgrid/grid work in electrical engineering; the North American Power grid meets the definition of a microgrid for example. In the microgrid/local grid/regional grid case, however, there are deployment issues that are more prominent; the example that comes to mind is that frequency regulation services are needed for a little grid and a big grid, but Volt-Var management (phase angle from e.g. solar and battery inverters) is exclusively a local service need. In my own SOA design work, OASIS Energy Interoperation
(http://docs.oasis-open.org/energyinterop/ei/v1.0/os/energyinterop-v1.0-os.html
) I think that in this brave new world I defined microservices.
But I see zero distinction between so-called "enterprise SOA" and
what I've done. bill -- William Cox Email: wtcox@CoxSoftwareArchitects.com Web: http://www.CoxSoftwareArchitects.com +1 862 485 3696 mobile
