In case we are not having a meeting tomorrow, I’ll leave you with some reading:
This also talks about micro services as “SOA done right” but it goes into a lot of detail for a summary paper. One thing that mirrored some of Michael’s previous comments was the idea of dependencies being satisfied locally (within containers).
Pushing this a bit more, I saw something that recommended satisfying dependencies locally in a container (sort of like a proxy) but then have that resolve to either internal or external resources. For example, resolve data needs to a test database
during testing but resolve to the operational database for operational deployment.
I think this also touches on Martin’s question of whether all services are just duplicated locally. I think not but am digging further to get a tighter answer.
Anyway, some food for thought.
