Subject: RE: [soa-tel] 2 LSs from SOATEL to OMA and W3C-RA, update needed
Hi all, I am in OMA meetings this week, and won’t
be able to attend. Regards, Michael From: Ronco Enrico
[mailto:enrico.ronco@telecomitalia.it] John and Mike, Can I suggest to add
this item to today’s meeting agenda. LS with OMA should be
all done. Michael has edited and sent to OMA. So all should be ok. Vice versa for the LS
to W3C RA I have see no update (refer below for options). Orit, Mike: any news
on this? The LS to W3C is a bit
urgent and we should have already moved on. Regards Enrico From: Ronco Enrico Mary and all Thanks for update. We must distinguish
cases: one is straightforward, one a bit more complicated. ·
Liaison with OMA:
Michael Brenner (ALU) is a Voting
Member in SOATEL and is active member in OMA; he volunteered to edit the LS and
to deliver it to OMA. He also is our TMS SC link to OMA. So this is
straightforward: I hope that if Michael confirms all what I am saying he can
immediately be appointed as SOATEL TC Liaison Officer for OMA. ·
Liason wirh W3C-RA:
o
Orit
Levin (Microsoft) is active Member
in SOATEL, as well as Member of the TMS SC, she drafted the LS to W3C-RA but
she is not (as far as I am concerned) a member in W3C-RA. Please Orit
confirm. o
So
if we want Orit to be our liaison rep she should join W3C RA, but I do
not know if this is something she can afford, want to do. Up to her and
Microsoft. o
There
could be a colleague of her in Microsoft active in W3C RA (Geoff
Bullen, Asir Vedamuthu, reading from the w3c-ra roster) who joins OASIS
SOATEL. But again this is not up to me to decide. o
BTW
by looking at the 2 groups’ rosters the only person I see belonging now
to both rosters is Li Li, working for Avaya.
Mike Giordano (or Li), can you confirm? o
So
the jigsaw may be solved with Li Li accepting to be the liaison rep for SOATEL
in W3C-RA. I hope to get this all
sorted out rapidly since, guess what, I feel that the most urgent LS to
establish is with W3C-RA. So,
Regards Enrico From: Mary McRae
[mailto: To Members of the SOA for Telecom Technical Committee: There are two classes of liaison relationships defined by the OASIS
Liaison Policy: Organizational Liaisons and TC Liaisons. In this particular
case you should be operating in the TC Liaison mode. The exact policy is
here: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/liaison_policy.php#liaisons Note that it requires appointing a Member of the Technical Committee
who should also be a Member of the organization with which the TC wishes to
form a relationship. That Member then becomes the conduit of communication
between the two groups. The Liaison relationship does not allow participation
by non-OASIS Members on OASIS Technical Committees, nor vice versa. There is currently no ability for a Member Section to establish a
liaison relationship with any other entity; only Technical Committees can create
such relationships. If the TC has not yet done so, it should nominate and appoint a Member
of the TC to be the liaison to each of the referenced groups (W3C-RA and OMA).
In each case, that person should be a member of that organization and eligible
to participate in their work. That individual would then be the conduit for
passing these requests to the other organizations. Please feel free to contact me if further clarification is needed or if
you have any other questions. I need to send such LSs to you for you to officially send them to the

exact? If not can you indicate me what steps to follow in the OASIS procedures
and who to contact in order to get these LSs to destination? They are a bit urgent, especially the
