Subject: OASIS Telecom MS Steering Committee Nominations Open
OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee 'Special Election' Nominations Now Open OASIS Members, One seat serving a term lasting until May 2010 on the OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee (SC) is now open for nomination recommendations. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee members are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [1] and the Telecom Member Section Rules of Procedure [2]. Any Telecom participant may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. Any OASIS member may join the Telecom MS at no additional cost [3]. Each Telecom Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector. Please note; if you are the Primary Representative for your organization and unable to vote during the designated time period, please defer the voting member role to another employee member by sending an email to member-services@oasis-open.org, any such change should be in place before the ballot is cast. NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE Nominations will be open 15-September-2009 through 22-September-2009. The election will be held 23-September-2009 through 31-September-2009. NOMINATION PROCESS Any Telecom MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to: nominations@oasis-open.org. Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must: 1. Accept the nomination; 2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position (participation in a teleconference bi-monthly, additional support activities as needed); 3. Provide background information and a position statement describing his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and 4. Be a participant in the Telecom Member Section. ELECTION PROCESS The one new Steering Committee member will be selected by the Telecom Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process - Scottish Method [4]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and confirmed. We encourage all Telecom MS participants to consider serving on the Steering Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with any questions you might have regarding this process. [1] http://www.oasis-open.org/who/ms_policy.php. [2] http://www.oasis-telecom.org/RoP.
