Subject: Re: [stdsreg] Metadata Standard v2.0
Hello folks I have not unfortunately the bandwidth to follow up with the conference calls, but have kept the "lurking" mode. I am not aware that the format(s) to be adopted for the Registry have been discussed so far (have they?) I've still in mind - of course - that a topic map would be at least a solution to consider (if not the killer solution) What I can put in the process, as soon as the metadata definition are stable and approved by the Committee, is to propose a topic map model for those metadata, which means: -- Definition of topic types (objects and concepts described in the Registry) -- Definition of occurrence types (metadata attached to each topic class) -- Definition of association types (relationships between topics) On that model, express some example(s) in XTM syntax. I can't insist enough on the advantages of such a structure for knowledge organization and discovery ...
