Minutes of the Standards Registry Committee conference call #19, 12
March 2003

(Call hosted by ANSI)

Roll call and welcome.
Attendance: Karl Best (Chair), Bob Hager

1. Review status of public review comments and ISO submission.

Bob presented his revised, reformatted version of the public review
comments, as had been requested at the previous meeting. All agreed that
this new format was an improvement, and that this version should be
submitted to ISO.

Bob reported that there is still no editor selected for the StdsReg spec
at ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32, but that Frank Farance is championing the work
within ISO and Bob will also continue to follow through to make sure
that an editor is found and the work progresses.

2. Status of implementations

Karl noted that OASIS is still on track to build an implementation of
the StdsReg spec. OASIS has solicited proposals from its members to
build a registry that would use the StdsReg metadata; OASIS will select
from the proposals soon then start development, which is expected to be
completed in Q2. The registry will use the current version of the
StdsReg spec; once ISO completes and approves the spec the OASIS
registry will be updated to reflect the new metadata.

ANSI is also expected to build an implementation.

3. Final decisions

In order to formalize the preliminary decisions made at the last meeting
(25 February), those present voted to

   a. Submit the StdsReg specification and compilation of public
comments, in their current state, to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32.

   b. Close the StdsReg committee.

   c. Extend a vote of thanks to those who have participated and
contributed to this effort.

The committee is now closed. No further meetings will be held.
