Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (TAG-2) TAML Public Comment:Semantics Between TAML and Model

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TAG-2?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=19019#action_19019 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on TAG-2:
-----------------------------------

In the discussion, I was also thinking that there are different levels of (semantic) abstraction at play. The Model is more about notionally what the nature of a test assertion is, without much about how it is expressed (although we borrow datatypes, and that might be confusing). TAML, on the other hand, is a means of expressing the test assertion in markup. This is more stylized and so there are additional semantics not to be found in the model as well as statements that such-and-such feature of the model is realized by thus-and-so element/attribute, etc.

I also noticed that we have the same names of datatypes at the TAML level and they are perhaps not literally the same at all. And, I notice that we have not mae any allowance for the appearance of markup of some knd as the content of elements that are defined for TAML. We don't want to specify that, but perhaps TAML should allow it. (This also makes sense if TAML is embedded in another markup or decorated with RDF or ... .)

> Related to the previous Issue, TAG-1, this follow-on comment is about the acceptability of cross-matching from TAML to the Model for Semantics if the Semantics are there.
