Subject: Groups - MET02_SDA Overview_v0.02.doc uploaded

The document MET02_SDA Overview_v0.02.doc has been submitted by Michael Roytman (michael.roytman@vertexinc.com) to the Tax XML TC document repository.

Document Description:
As discussed at the last teleconference, this is the process the ATO uses in
doing the high level design for a business solution.

The twelve-step Solution Design Architecture (SDA) approach is based on a
number of industry-standard modelling techniques. It is primarily business
driven, beginning with a scoping/context/objectives step followed by a task
which identifies the business processes and events that surround the
template problem (independent of systems support). From here the focus
shifts to systems support by identifying the required interactions with the
system and then the significant non-functional requirements (useability,
flexibility, reliability, supportability etc). The steps then move more into
the technical sphere that will lead to the discovery of logical (or
idealised) components and then showing how they will be used. Platform
options and architectural risks are only assessed once the vision of the
ideal component-based solution is clearly seen.

Regards,
Brett Anderson.
