Announcement: UK Face-to-face meeting, 23/24 Sept 2004

I'm pleased to be able to announce the details of the TC face-to-face
meeting to be held in the UK on 23rd and 24th September 2004.

Location: The Berystede Hotel Conference Centre (http://www.berystede.com), 
Sunninghill, nr Ascot, Berkshire. See (watch out for line-wrapping):

The arrow in the central grid square marks the exact location of the
hotel. The hotel is in a pleasant, quiet location in its own grounds
of approximately 9 acres. The conference centre is modern and well
equipped.

Travel: The nearest railway station is Sunningdale, on the Reading-
Waterloo line (31 mins from Reading, 46 mins from Waterloo). For those
arriving at Heathrow (upper right corner of map), the easiest option is
a taxi - this will take about 20-25 minutes, depending on time of day.
There is no direct public transport from Heathrow to this particular
area. Taxi drivers should know where Sunninghill is, but if in any
doubt advise them to use Junction 13 of the M25, onto the A30, and then
the A329. The hotel is about a mile south of the centre of Sunninghill,
at the junction of the A330 and B3020.

For UK attendees coming by car (or visitors intending to hire a car)
there is ample free parking at the hotel.

Booking: A block of rooms (B&B) have been reserved at the rate of 160 UKP
per night for the nights of the 22nd and 23rd September (normal rate
is 240 UKP, and you should be aware that the weekend of the 25th/26th
is an Ascot Race Meeting weekend - Ascot Race Course is nearby - so
the rate will increase sharply for the Friday and Saturday nights).
These will be held until 10th September, but please make bookings as
soon as possible. Also please confirm with me that you will be coming.
When contacting the hotel reservations desk please quote the "Inland
Revenue OASIS meeting" and ensure the rate quoted is as above. You
can contact the hotel directly or use the attached booking form,
faxing it to the hotel or emailing a completed document as an
attachment to: events.berystede@macdonald-hotels.co.uk

Weather: who knows! In theory the end of September should be mild
to warm, but it could be wet or dry :-) The conference centre rooms
are air-conditioned, and the hotel has an out-door heated pool that
is open until mid-October.

I'm assuming that the Thursday evening will be set aside for the
conference dinner - within walking distance there is an excellent
Chinese restaurant (frequented by royalty, as friends of mine have
witnessed in the past!). Please let me know well in advance if
Chinese food is not to your liking and we'll take up one of the
alternatives.
