Subject: [tc-announce] ebXML Messaging Committee Specification forconsideration as OASIS Standard
OASIS members: The OASIS ebXML Messaging TC has submitted the Messaging Service Specification V2.0, which is an approved Committee Specification, for review and consideration for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. In accordance with Section 2 of the OASIS Technical Process (see http://oasis-open.org/committees/process.shtml) OASIS members have one calender quarter to review this submission then 30 days for voting. The review will take place from 1 April to 30 June 2002, and I will call for a vote on 1 July 2002; each OASIS member organization will have a single vote on the ballot. The OASIS TC has supplied the following required items for OASIS members to review: (a) a formal specification that is a valid member of its type The plain language Specification may be found at: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/documents/ebMS_v2_0.pdf The related XML Schema may be found at: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ebxml-msg/schema/msg-header-2_0.xsd (b) appropriate documentation for the specification The specification is self-documenting. (c) a clear English-language summary of the specification "The ebXML messaging service defines a robust and reliable protocol to exchange information (normally but not exclusively XML messages) between Businesses. This is the second version of this specification with improvements based on implementation experience." [and] Where implementations are required before advancement of a specification, only implementations that have, by statement of the implementors, taken adequate steps to comply with any such rights, or claimed rights, shall be considered for the purpose of showing the adequacy of the specification." The above companies have stated that they have complied with the IPR associated with this specification. Statements regarding licensing of SOAP, which is referred to by the ebXML Messaging specification, are at http://www.w3.org/Submission/2000/05/ (e) an account of or pointer to votes and comments received in any earlier attempts to standardize substantially the same specification, together with the originating TC's response to each comment This specification has not previously been submitted to OASIS membership, so there are no previous votes or comments to respond to.
