Subject: 15-day Public Review for WS-Biometric Devices V1.0 - ends Jan 1st

OASIS members and other interested parties,

The OASIS Biometrics TC members [1] have produced an updated Committee Specification Draft (CSD) and submitted this specification for 15-day public review:

WS-Biometric Devices Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 02 / Public Review Draft 02
12 November 2014

Specification Overview:

WS-Biometric Devices, or WS-BD, is a command & control protocol for biometric devices. It uses the language for the web; proprietary knowledge of sensor interfaces are no longer required. Desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone applications can access sensors just as easily as they can navigate to a website.

TC Description:

The OASIS Biometric TC seeks to accelerate the use of biometrics through services and enhanced interoperability in distributed environments.

Public Review Period:

The public review starts 18 December 2014 at 00:00 UTC and ends 01 January 2015 at 23:59 UTC. The specification was previously submitted for public review [2]. This 15-day review is limited in scope to changes made from the previous review. Changes are highlighted in the diff-marked PDF file [3].

This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
